Who thought that eggs could ever be interesting? I mean just a whole egg? Well, say hello to Easter–the holiday that turns eggs into little balls of delight. The exciting part of Easter is not eating these chocolate treats, but the hunt for them. Easter egg hunts are huge crowd-pullers. Trying to get as many eggs as you can before others is exciting (not to mention that you get to eat them at the end).
Exciting, wacky and undeniably fun–here are the best Easter egg hunts from all over the world.
1. EASTER EGG ROLL, WASHINGTON D.C., USA
Think about it, running around looking for eggs at the White House, with the President and his family. The Easter Egg Roll, is the annual Easter Egg Hunt held at the White House. The President also participates along with his family. Every year, more than 30,000 people take part in this egg hunt. Due to the popularity of this hunt, tickets are distributed through lottery. And the fun doesn’t end with the hunt. There are games, music, storytelling (by the President himself, yes!) and much more.

2. THE CHATEAU VAUX LE VICOMTE, FRANCE
A towering chateau, beautiful luxurious gardens spread out in the front, antique windows and mesmerizing halls–How does this sound for the venue of an Easter egg hunt? Too good to be true? Well, it’s not. Every year, a massive Easter egg hunt is held at the Chateau Vaux Le Vicomte in France. The scale of the event, which is held in the massive gardens, is huge. And after the egg hunt, participants can explore the chateau itself. This sounds like one royal experience, we say!

3. COPPER MOUNTAIN EASTER EGG HUNT, COLORADO, USA
This event holds the title of being the World’s Largest Easter Egg Hunt! Taking place on the gorgeous slopes of Copper Mountain itself, it involves around 65,000 Easter eggs spread over the area. The view, with the snow-covered slopes, cannot be missed. During the morning, the hunt is divided by different age-groups but during the afternoon, adults are allowed to join the young kids in the fun too! A lift, called the Eagle Lift, takes one up to the top levels of the mountain where eggs have been scattered. Even better is the fact that this egg hunt is very environment friendly. The first 400 children to bring back their eggs get a special prize. These eggs are then used again. Also, biodegradable eggs have been added in the past few years.

4. MAGICAL EGG HUNT, TABLE MOUNTAIN, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
This is one of the most exciting Easter Egg Hunts in the world. You have to climb a mountain for the prize (quite literally)! The aim of the participants is to find the Easter Bunny, who is hiding somewhere in the mountain with an enormous chest filled with Easter eggs. The hunt is led by the Easter Fairy and the Mad Hatter, who help and guide the participants throughout the hunt. Every participant is given a set of clue cards. There’s a Mad Hatter’s tea-party (yes, for real!) where further clues are given to participants. This truly is one of a kind!

5. BAD EGGS EASTER EGG HUNT, THE LONDON DUNGEON, LONDON
Now here’s one of our favorites–an egg hunt with a scary twist. Forget the happy atmosphere, colourful decor and skipping around looking for eggs. In this egg hunt, you hold on to every sound, doors creaking, whispering sounds, wailing. Oh, and let’s not forget the not-so-good looking Easter eggs (they are intentionally made to look unappetizing).
The Bad Eggs Easter Egg Hunt is a game-changer. It involves people dressed up as vintage scary characters, pointing the way forward to your egg hunt. Through shrieks and frights, this egg hunt is one of a kind. Favorite part of the whole experience? It takes place in a dark, mysterious dungeon. No gardens, no sunlight, only candles and wails. Enough said.

6. THE BIG EGG HUNT, NEW YORK CITY, USA
The Big Egg Hunt held by Fabergé in New York City is one of the most famous Easter Egg Hunts in the world. Imagine it yourself, with the New York skyline in the backdrop, enormous Easter eggs rise throughout the city. Although, they are very subtly hidden. Participants have to download The Big Egg Hunt NYC app where they are then given clues to find the 200 eggs placed all around the city. These spectacular eggs are not just randomly created but are designed by famous artists and designers like Tommy Hilfiger and Caroline Herrera.
Now, owing to the size of these spectacularly large eggs and their value (they are really expensive), participants are not allowed to take back these eggs. But, the codes displayed on these eggs are used by the participants to enter into a lottery-like competition to win one of the three Fabergé pendants (oh, and did we say that each pendant costs around $48,000). Well, this sounds like one glamorous egg hunt!
There are many more wonderful Easter egg hunts which take place all around the world, but these were some of our favorites. Although all of them are different, from their venue, to their scale and the activities involved, yet they all have one similarity, spending a fun-filled day with your family and friends. And that’s what the spirit of Easter is all about, isn’t it?
