Illustrator Jenny Liz Rome, working in Southern Ontario, creates dynamic fashion images with an inbuilt twist in them. Taking inspiration from wildlife, dream-like colours, modern women, classic style and the female form to create her pencil drawings, though her work may seem as 100% drawing, but the bodies and faces in her images are actually collaged from photographs. In almost all of her work, one is not looking at a woman who actually exists, but at a girl built with fragments of bodies and portraits. Working that way gives Rome the freedom to create an entirely new human being, and body shape. She focuses mainly on the female form, because it’s the perfect canvas and likes to cover the eyes to leave a sense of mystery in the image as well.
