Most of us were/are going gaga about Milley Cyrus for the public display of things we reserve for within the space of four walls. The truth is sex and lust and all the things in between are true and close to each one of us. Sex is a way of life. Artist Apollonia Saintclair, who inks beautiful and bold, B&W erotica, believes that sex mixes with every area of life. Her drawings are unbashedly loud and delightfully detailed.
The protagonist in her drawings is always a woman. They are open, bold and uncensored and therefore a treat for the 21st century liberal thinkers. Her portrayal of the women eventually taking the lead make her drawings a powerful source of feminism (and aptly questions the long ongoing patriarchal ways of life). Her drawings portray a strong sense of female autonomy and a liberal society which she supports but doesn’t really promote through her drawings.
Her work thus, is pure art. The subject of her drawings, according to her, is her exploration towards the foolish ways we behave when overpowered by such strong instincts. Her bold drawings are a mirror to her thoughts and imaginations. She tries to justify her love for sexuality and her bold imagination through her drawings which they aptly do. Her drawings are a result of her personal drive and she feels free to draw what she desires. Thus, the bold ink she produces is an example of the pursuit of individual freedom.
