We travel, see places and each space triggers a sense of novelty within us. We encase these moments through pictures, words, colours and drawings and sometimes just in our heads. After showcasing the photography spaces of Karachi, we bring you the best photography spots in Chandigarh.
1. Sukhna Lake
Sukhna Lake is an important landmark of the city. The beauty of the lake changes every season as different seasons attract and nurture different flora and fauna to it. As a photographer, you could experience the best sunsets and sunrises in the city here, as the lake seems endless upon continuous looking but when it does, it is bordered by a dusky layer of the Himachal hills. Winters bring along the migratory birds to it and the lake blooms with the lotus cultivation in the monsoon season.
2. Gardens
Gardens played an integral part of planning the city. So Chandigarh has these theme-based gardens around the city and a particular type of flower can be exploited in different ways all around a space. The gardens never run out of hues to match the seasons of the city, so for the photographers Chandigarh can be a big piece of gooey heaven (synonymous to chocolate? yes!). Some great places to explore are: Rose Garden, Leisure Valley, Terraced Garden, Garden of Silence, Garden of Fragrance, Bougainvillea Garden, Pinjore Garden, Japanese Garden, Shanti Kunj and Dahlia Garden.
3. Architecture
Chandigarh, being one of the most planned cities, is quite well-organised and uniform when it comes to architecture. The design by the famous French architect Le Corbuiser makes the city’s buildings unique. His geometrical designs blend light and shadow in a tricky way. Vidhan Sabha, Sector 17 plaza, Punjab and Haryana Civil Secretariat Building, Art Museum, Government College of Art, Gandhi Bhavan, Buildings of Panjab University, Punjab and Haryana High court building are some amazing photography locations. The fading grey concrete forms the perfect backdrop for pictures plus you can also find brightly coloured and abstracts designs with the fading dull.
4. Trees
Being an urban city, Chandigarh has well-planned sectors with shopping complexes and streets that connect them well with each other and every street is surrounded with plantations. This is one of the most interesting features of Chandigarh as the plantations around the streets and roads add calmness to the urban hustle of lives. Photographers can use the trees as backdrops of portraits and also for framing the ironical togetherness of the urban, continuous movement of vehicles and the natural, the side of the streets covered with soothing hues from the different flowers and trees. You can find beautiful trees on Udyog Path, Jan Marg, Himalaya Marg, Purv Marg and roads of Panjab University.
