Cuban artist, painter and illustrator Rubén Fuentes curates surreal landscapes out of ink. Not only serving as a means of admiration for nature, these landscapes are also presented as a care giver of all forms in our ecosystem. They are reduced to very few elements in its composition, so that the intensity of the poetic idea to express and avoid the ecosystem’s loss predominates. Rubén Fuentes greatly uses Chinese shan shui ink drawings as an influence to his works. He believes that the act of creating art is simultaneous, in a sense, to the act of meditation. His ink landscapes possess a mystical, abstract and dreamlike quality; which despite being monochrome leave a lasting impression on the viewer.
