In an effort to celebrate the acceptance and appreciation of the skin you’re in and embracing one’s body with all its perfections and flaws, artist Natalie Fletcher has started a unique body art project called “100 Bodies Across America”. The ongoing project showcases models (or volunteers, as Natalie likes to call them) merging into picturesque surroundings ranging from flowing rivers and mountain peaks, to lush forests and the blue skies.

Currently travelling across America, Natalie paints two bodies in each state and breathes a new life into some of the most beautiful sceneries across the country. And guess what, she requires no more than some paint, a brush and a human body canvas to blend her volunteers into these exquisite landscapes through body paintings!

Documenting America through paintings and camouflaging volunteers to match scenic backdrops, Natalie calls this a ‘dream project’ of hers as she believes that there is nothing more exciting than being able to bring art alive through human interaction and emotions.

“The people I’ve met, painted and just hung out with have been incredible. That is why I make art on people: each canvas is unique and beautiful.”

The project, which is transforming living bodies into art, is a learning experience for not just Natalie, but her volunteers too, as they undergo the intimate process of accepting their bodies and letting go of their inhibitions. Throughout this empowering process, Natalie interacts with her volunteers and accompanies them on the journey which usually begins with the struggle to accept one’s body, to celebrating and embracing who they are, in the flesh. If you love Natalie’s amazing artwork, you’ll love these five body artists who create equally mesmerising paintings on the human skin!
