New Zealand based artist, Martin Hill practices his art by making and photographing environmental sculptures in nature that return to nature. Using organic materials such as ice, sticks and stones Hill creates his site-specific installations together with his partner Philippa Jones, exploring the topic of sustainability. Hill believes that nature is sustainable by design: fuelled by sunlight, where everything is recycled and all waste becomes food for something else. Art, according to him can trigger change towards a new model of progress that does not destroy the living world on which life relies and inspire us to look at problems as opportunities for innovation from which multiple beneficial outcomes increase well-being for all.
The temporary artworks are then preserved through photographs telling the story of the transition that is underway now towards a circular economy that emulates the way nature works.
